Frequently Asked Questions

WILL MY CHILD BENEFIT FROM GROUP LESSONS, MATCHPLAY, SQUADS, PRIVATE LESSONS OR A PERSONALISED PROGRAM?

At Mad Athletes each student is treated as an individual. Thus, what is good for one student may not necessarily suit another. In most cases a mixture of private sessions, squad and matchplay are the ideal way to develop and “GET BETTER QUICKER”

HOW CAN MAD ATHLETES HELP MY CHILD BECOME THE NEXT RAFAEL NADAL?
Our Head Coach Michael Dracos has gone through it all! Training at Saddlebrook Academy in Tampa next to Andy Roddick, attending a coaching course at World Famous Sanchez Casal learning from Emilio Sanchez himself. Go through and have a look at the amount of players Spain has developed over the past 5-10 years on a very small budget, and compare that to Tennis Australia’s performance and their huge budget! This should tell you where a coach should learn his trade.

Mad Athletes has experience training 3 year olds, older adults through to state, national and internationally ranked players. We can tailor programs to the seriously dedicated player, with the optimum situation combining tennis together with our personal training.
HOW DO I KNOW WHEN MY CHILD IS READY TO START AT MAD ATHLETES?

Mad Athletes can assist you to decide if your child is ready to join one of our programs. Please CONTACT US to arrange a time to discuss the individual needs of your child.

WHAT AGE CAN MY CHILD BEGIN PLAYING?
We have children as young as 3 years old with us. Generally at 3 or even 4 years of age, we recommend 1 on 1 sessions, so we can dedicate all our attention on your child alone. This ensures keeping them focused, making sure we get as much out of the session as possible. Certain children at 4/5 years of age can begin in our hot shots program, providing they can concentrate and listen in a class of 5 students over 30 minutes duration.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ALL YOUR PROGRAMS ON OFFER?

Junior group sessions are general lessons that cover different strokes each week. They are based on learning and fun and last 45 minutes.

Matchplay is focused purely on matches and how to play them. From scoring, tactics/strategy, etc. This is vital to even the most complete player.

Squads are for more serious players that really want to combine all facets of tennis. We combine intense drilling, matches and fitness into one session. We have different levels of squads to suit most standards and ages.

Private lessons are the quickest way to develop your game. You get one on one attention, which allows us to completely focus on you!

Personalised sessions are the way to go for the player wanting to take tennis as a profession. We will design a program suitable for your standard and age, as well as budget. We can combine a number of programs and integrate them with our personal training sessions. As we know tennis these days is heavily fitness based, and with poor movement, your standard will suffer regardless of your talent.
